Why use an ePortfolio?

Artists use portfolios to display their works over time. Business people may use a portfolio to contain their resources. An eportfolio is as many things as you need it to be. I use mine to contain all the work and thoughts I have built, read, and synthesized to create a cohesive process.

When we provide students with the authentic opportunities that allow them to work on solutions to real world problems, the eportfolio becomes a home and presentation tool for that solution. This idea of COVA focuses on providing students choice, ownership, and voice in these authentic environments where the eportfolio acts as the engine. Students can use a teachers website to navigate resources or use their own to share information or texts that support or challenge their solutions.

Personally, the eportfolio has been the buy in to the ADL program. It helped to bridge the pieces I had been working to craft over the last few months, and fostered the buy in I needed to see the process through to the end.
